Privacy policy

Own helps creators run their own home on the internet at name.ownit.fan. The whole idea is that creators own their audience, so we try to collect as little as we can and never sell anyone's data.

Who we are

Own ("we", "us") runs the website ownit.fan and the creator hubs on it. Own is operated by Ahmed Hagahmed in New York, USA. You can reach us about anything in this policy at hello@ownit.fan.

What we collect today

Own is not open yet. Right now the only information we collect is what you give us when you join the early-access list:

• your email address
• the link name you want to claim
• your main platform and follower range
• the country your request came from, worked out from your connection (we don't save your IP address with your sign-up)

We use this only to hold your link name, understand who is signing up, and email you about Own. You can ask us to delete it at any time.

What we'll collect when Own opens

When you use Own, we'll also handle:

• Account details: your name, email, password (stored only as a secure hash) and profile.
• Content from platforms you connect: if you connect YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or another platform, we read your public profile and your posts (titles, descriptions, thumbnails, links and basic stats) so they can appear on your hub. We only request the access we need for that, and we never post on your behalf unless you ask us to.
• Fans' details: when fans join a creator's hub, we store their email, name, memberships, purchases and community posts on the creator's behalf.
• Payments: payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store full card numbers.
• Usage information: basic logs and page statistics to keep the service secure and working.

Creators and their fans

When you join a creator's hub, that creator can see your name, email and activity on their hub, and can email you and export their fan list. That is a core feature of Own. Each creator is responsible for how they use their fan list, and every email they send through Own includes an unsubscribe link.

Who we share data with

We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We only share it with the services that run Own:

• Cloudflare hosts the website and database.
• Google Fonts serves the fonts on this site, which means your browser requests them from Google.
• Stripe processes payments (once Own opens).
• An email provider sends account and fan emails (once Own opens).
• AI providers power optional AI features such as the hub builder. They process only the content needed for that feature and may not use it to train their models.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect people from fraud or harm.

YouTube and Google

Own uses YouTube API Services to show a creator's YouTube videos on their hub. By connecting YouTube you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's Privacy Policy applies to data Google handles. You can remove Own's access to your Google account at any time from your Google security settings. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Instagram, Facebook and TikTok

If you connect Instagram (through Meta) or TikTok, we use their official APIs only to show your posts on your hub. You can disconnect them any time from your Own settings or from the platform's own settings. When you disconnect, we delete the data we got from that platform within 30 days.

Deleting your data

Email hello@ownit.fan from the address you signed up with and ask us to delete your data. We'll delete it within 30 days and confirm when it's done. Once Own opens, you'll also be able to delete your account yourself in your settings. This also serves as our data deletion instructions for Meta and TikTok.

How long we keep data

We keep your information while you're on the list or have an account, and delete it within 30 days of you asking. We may keep limited records longer where the law requires it, for example payment records for tax purposes.

Cookies

This site doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. When Own opens we'll use a cookie to keep you signed in. Cloudflare may set a cookie to protect the site from bots.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you, correct, export or delete the information we hold about you, or to stop emailing you. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. Contact hello@ownit.fan and we'll respond within 30 days.

Children

Own is not meant for anyone under 16. Creators must be 18 or older to earn money on Own, or have a parent or guardian manage their account.

Security

We use encrypted connections everywhere, keep access to data to a minimum, and store passwords only as secure hashes. No system is perfectly secure, and we'll tell affected people promptly if something goes wrong.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and email people on our list before the change takes effect.
